Youth and Government
Youth and Government teach values-based leadership and civic engagement through experience. With support from legal and government volunteers across the Commonwealth, Massachusetts Youth & Government encourages teens to become active and responsible contributors who are inspired to lead and encouraged to create meaningful change. Delegates who participate in Massachusetts’s Youth & Government program are equipped with the necessary skills to effectively communicate, build positive relationships and initiate change in their communities. Through leadership development training and teamwork with peers, our delegates build a strong sense of self-confidence while learning the importance of servant leadership. Meetings are bi-weekly for this program on zoom and three hours of state programming a month. During our bi-weekly meetings, we discuss how to write bills, how to write a position paper to be a lobbyist, what a judicial trial looks like and how to prepare for it along with debating current events, practicing public speaking, and having local government officials come to speak to our program.
