HRYMCA Dolphins Swimteam

Our Swim Team offers great opportunities to excel in an exciting and dynamic sport in a safe, enthusiastic, and motivating environment.

Program Philosophy

Hampshire Regional Y competitive swimming programs, like all Y programs, are a tool to help people develop in spirit, mind and body. Developing skills and achieving success are secondary to pursuing the Y mission, which is “to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.” Teaching fundamental skills; encouraging lifetime involvement in physical activity; and strengthening the values of fitness, health, self respect and respect for others are the central themes in our sports philosophy.

Team Levels

Green Group

The emphasis is on development of proper technique. Refinement of strokes, starts, and turns are continued at this level. The goal of coaches is to see that the swimmers enjoy their experience as they are introduced to training sets and more challenging practice sessions. For 10 and under. Competition includes other area teams, invitational's, and League Championships. US Swimming is available

Bronze Group

The swimmers in this group have begun to work on endurance and basic interval training. They are ready, willing, and able to spend more time at the pool than Developmental. The emphasis in Bronze begins to lean toward aerobic conditioning. We do start thinking about working on speed and endurance, but not at the expense of stroke technique.Competition includes other area teams, invitational's, and League Championships. US Swimming is available and recommended.

Silver Group

Silver members are challenged in both their physical and mental development as competitive swimmers. Practice sessions are demanding and each member of the squad is expected to focus on perfecting skills while increasing their endurance capacity. These athletes have agreed to make a greater commitment to the sport. They are encouraged to compete in all strokes and distances and discouraged from specializing in specific events.Competition includes other area teams, invitational's, and Championships. US Swimming is strongly recommended.

Gold Group

Gold members are challenged in both their physical and mental development as competitive swimmers. Practice sessions are demanding and each member of the squad is expected to focus on perfecting skills while increasing their endurance capacity. These athletes have agreed to make a greater commitment to the sport. They are encouraged to compete in all strokes and distances and discouraged from specializing in specific events. Competition includes other area teams, invitational's, and Championships. US Swimming is strongly recommended.

High School

Offered for swimmers who swim a portion of the season with their high school team. Swimmers registered for the High School option may practice with HRY up to 3x week (see Seniors schedule). Swimmers are expected to participate in at least 2 league meets and in championships. US Swimming is also an option. Coach approval is required before a swimmer may register for this option.

US/NE Swimming

This is for interested swimmers looking for more swim opportunities with our team.
