Camp Nowich Alumnae

As you know, Camp Norwich is the second oldest YMCA camp in the country, located on 137 beautiful lakeside acres. This summer, our children experienced growth, joy and discovery in a beautiful, closely supervised and non-competitive atmosphere. They developed their self-confidence, creativity and appreciation of the outdoors. They played group games in the meadow, paddled and splashed on the lake and clambered over woodland trails. They crafted art from natural materials. They sang, stargazed and even tried their hands at archery.

Part of what makes camp special is the exposure to such diverse activities, but another important factor is the campers’ interactions with our talented counselors and with other children. As you may or may not be aware, some of the children who attend Camp Norwich come from families that are experiencing economic challenges.

“Both of my children have been campers at Camp Norwich for many years and have both had nothing but outstanding experiences. When we started our teenage daughter there years ago we had to utilize the scholarship money for our child to attend. Year after year we were able to financially move from a full scholarship, up the sliding scale, to paying full enrollment this year. As our financial situation continues to improve we look forward to donating to Camp Norwich so other families can enjoy this amazing experience. My children have both prioritized Camp Norwich as a highlight of every summer. As a parent, knowing that we were able to attend, regardless of our financial situation, makes this camp a pillar of our wonderful community. I will continue to promote this camp and do everything I can to ensure it continues to be available in our community.” Camper parent 2011

In order to continue making Camp Norwich a place that’s accessible to all families, we are asking for your help. Your donation to the Hampshire Regional YMCA’s Annual Fund will support the financial assistance that enabled dozens of needy children to attend Camp Norwich this summer.

There are other ways to help Camp Norwich flourish, including volunteering work time on weekends, securing donations of program equipment/supplies and helping to raise funds for camp improvements such as a climbing tower. Please email me if you might be able to help: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

And, if you can, please donate to our annual find. You can do so by clicking here and then following the directions. If you prefer, make out a check to Hampshire Regional YMCA and mail to Hampshire Regional YMCA, 286 Prospect Street, Northampton, MA 01060. You can help us maintain a YMCA that supports all the children of our diverse community.

Sincerely,
