The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens

The Garden provides support groups for young people and their parents/guardians who have experienced the loss of an immediate family member. Meetings occur on alternate Sundays at the YMCA from October to June. The Garden also provides a mid-week support group for high school aged teens. There is no fee for these services. Volunteers are an essential part of The Garden program; opportunities include facilitation, fundraising and office work.

Volunteer Opportunities
The YMCA is one of the largest volunteer organizations in the country. You can be one of those special people who give of their time and talent. While not paid in dollars, Y volunteers receive compensation from knowing they have helped another person — and that feeling is priceless. It only takes a couple of hours each week to make a difference in the lives of others.

Volunteers will be trained in a specific area in which they are helping. To begin your volunteer experience, stop by the Member Service Desk and complete a volunteer application.
