We are proud to offer this new class that can help your young athlete enjoy a great sport without the pressure or intensity of being on team. These gymnasts get two hour-long classes taught by our skilled team coaches. This class encourages children to make a commitment to an activity by attending class twice a week from February 5th – June 19th. Gymnasts can expect to gain a lot of skill, strength, and flexibility development through this new class. To achieve the greatest success rate and have the highest amount of attention given, the space in the class will be limited. See our complete listing for times and fees!

NEW! Acrobatics
This class is a great mix of dance and the floor exercise portion of gymnastics. Children learn basic tumbling as well as basic dance principles. For the final 3 classes we will then combine our dance portions into our gymnastics and have a routine to show! NEW! Jazz and Gym
This class is an exciting fusion of basic jazz dancing and gymnastics. We will spend half the class learning some basic jazz combinations, then turn our attention to the gymnastics portion, where we will learn gymnastics skills on different apparatus. Follow Me (Ages 18 mos.—2.9 years)
This is a wonderful class for Parent and Child to learn safety techniques and beginning gymnastics together! Your toddler can learn to focus and have fun with you and our qualified instructors. Parent Participation is a must. Preschool Gymnastics
Our qualified instructors make learning safety techniques and beginning gymnastics FUN! Our Preschool Gymnastics Classes are grouped for age appropriate learning. This is the age when children have so much energy; they often do not have a safe outlet for it. Now they can: at the Y! Creative Movement
Children will get an introduction to the wonderful world of dance. Creative, imaginative, and invigorating movement helps teach basic movements which are a perfect prerequisite to ballet. Attire: girls should wear a leotard with tights without feet, bare-feet, or a modern sandal. Boys should wear close fitted t-shirt with shorts or comfortable pants. YMCA Progressive Gymnastics Classes Roller (Level 1) In this first level of our NEW Progressive Gymnastics lessons, Rollers will learn proper vaulting techniques, gain physical strength needed for the uneven bars, learn basic loco motor skills required to balance on the beam, acquire rolling and support positions on the floor, and have safety education and learn to be spatially aware of themselves. Gymnasts are always placed in groups for skill and age appropriate learning. Swinger (Level 2) This is the second level of our Progressive Gymnastics program. Gymnasts will learn to use their bodies in a more powerful way for vaulting, they will also begin to cast and rotate around the uneven bars. Balance beam will include jumping and hopping, and on floor, children will learn some basic tumbling. Gymnasts are always placed in groups for skill and age appropriate learning. Note: Gymnasts should have at least 2 sessions of gymnastics experience to enroll in this class. Kipper (Level 3) The third level of our Progressive Gymnastics Program offers a bit more of a challenge. Vaulting will involve repulsion from the hands, while children will learn how to actually swing on the bars, and perform inverted skills on the balance beam, and on floor they will begin to learn how to combine grace and power through skill advancement. Gymnasts are always placed in groups for skill and age appropriate learning. Note: Gymnasts should have at least 5 sessions of gymnastics experience to enroll for this class. Flyers (Level 4) Flyers are gymnasts who have the basic skills from the previous levels, and can perform them sharper, and are more refined, and consistently. They will learn how to vault in a powerful, yet controlled way. The bar skills they will acquire will involve more upper body strength building. On beam these gymnasts will learn are turning, and rotating. Floor exercise skill building will involve drills and lead up skills for back-handsprings, and more. Gymnasts are always placed in groups for skill and age appropriate learning. Note: Gymnasts should have at least 10 sessions of gymnastics experience to enroll for this class. Flipper (Level 5)
This level of progressive gymnastics teaches children how to do more complex combinations of basic and intermediate skills. Gymnasts will learn drills and lead up skills for a handspring vault, and on bars they will begin making transitions to the high bar. On the balance beam children will learn how to transfer floor skills to the beam, and on floor combining more difficult tumbling skills will be the goal. Gymnasts are always placed in groups for skill and age appropriate learning. Note: Gymnasts should have at least 12 sessions of gymnastics experience to enroll for this class.
Y-Stars (Specialty Class: by
invitation only)
This class is for the gymnast that is on the track to being on gymnastics team, or just has the desire and ability to do more advanced gymnastics. Gymnasts will learn many of the same skills that members from the competitive team learn. On all the events gymnasts will learn intermediate to advanced skill combinations. The emphasis in this class is to develop confidence in all that you can achieve without any intense pressure. Gymnasts are invited by a gymnastics instructor to take this hour-long class.
