Youth Fitness
Helping youth and teens develop healthier lifestyles is one of the critical issues facing our society today. The HRYMCA is committed to addressing this issue through making our cardio strength equipment available to youth and teens.
Youth Members ages 9 to 15 - can utilize the downstairs Youth Fitness Center during after school hours and on weekends: Monday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. - Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Saturday/Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Youth Fitness Center is under the supervision of staff selected for their ability to work with this age group. Staff assist Youth members in creating a safe and effective exercise program utilizing equipment appropriate to their age and size.
Our weekly schedule includes:
- Monday: Stability Ball Fun with Kristin
- Tuesday and Thursday: Workout with Emily while she teaches engaging and fun ways to use the treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical.
- Friday: Static Stretching with Kristin. Learn proper stretching patterns and techniques.
Youth ages 13 and 14 (part of a Family Membership) - can utilize our state of the art cardio/strength center within the Y guidelines and recommendations for exercise WITH a parent/guardian over the age of 18 ACTIVELY participating at arm's length (right next to) the child. Families can work out together and make fitness a fun, healthy family activity. A minimum of (1) training is required to utilize equipment. Appointments can be made at the Front Desk.
Young Adult Members ages 15+ - can utilize the center with the Y guidelines and recommendations for exercise without a parent or guardian within the Center. They will gain the skills and etiquette necessary to increase their fitness confidence and comfort level in and around fitness equipment. A minimum of (1) training is required to utilize equipment. Appointments can be made at the Front Desk.
