To Our Valued YMCA Members and Patrons:
We are very sorry to inform you that the opening of our small pool has been delayed due to failure of the product that was used to repair the pool gutter.
This project began in August when the pool was drained, caulked, cleaned and refilled. At that time, we identified an issue with the caulk coming off into our pool. We notified the contractor, as well as our legal team and were advised to have the company come back and reinstall the caulk.   The company came back out and repeated the job over Christmas break.   After opening the pool today (Monday 1/7/19) the caulk was once again coming off into the pool, leaving a cloudy residue. As a result, we have to once again close the pool.
We are taking every action to remedy this situation as soon as possible. We have been in contact with the contractor, product manufacturer and additional pool companies to fix the issue. Until we have more information and the solution, we cannot reopen the pool.
We are working with area pools and YMCAs to offer alternative pool options for exercise and lessons. We are also meeting with our staff to determine land exercise options for those who use the small pool.  Our Aquatics staff will be contacting anyone who has registered for swim lessons held in the small pool.
We will continue to keep you updated on this situation. All updates will be posted on our website and Facebook page.  We appreciate your patience as our staff work to get the pool back on track. We are extremely sorry for this situation.
