The Hampshire Regional YMCA is proud to have been named a 2019 Health New England Well Worth It Award recipient at the Silver level for successful worksite health promotion and employee health improvement. The award recognizes the Y’s commitment to their employees’ overall health and their achievements in implementing health and wellness programs.
An effective worksite wellness program can improve the well-being and productivity of the workforce while managing the rising cost of health care. At the Hampshire Regional YMCA, full-time employees and their families receive free memberships and program tuition, and flex work schedules are encouraged to help balance home and work life. Part-time employees also receive a free membership to the Y, and their families are eligible for reduced membership and program fees. A commitment to providing more ergonomic office spaces has contributed to a healthier work place. The Y’s Facebook Wellness Community has also been established to help engage and educate employees on topics such as physical activity, nutrition and stress management.
“Health New England is proud to recognize the Hampshire Regional YMCA for their efforts to keep their employees healthy and well and for establishing a culture of health at their workplace,” states Katie Bruno, Public Health and Wellness Program Manager for Health New England. “We know the positive impact that comes from having active and healthy employees. The Well Worth It Awards is an extension of Health New England’s mission and honors the work being done by our employer groups to improve the health and lives of the people in our communities.”
The Hampshire Regional YMCA has been providing wellness and family services to our community since 1880, with a focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. For more information, visit www.hrymca.org.
