Manna Soup Kitchen

Manna provides free meals, as well as company to enjoy them with, Monday-Saturday to anyone experiencing food insecurity. In addition, the Manna Community Center, located in St. John’s Church, provides space to shower, do laundry, and have access to wifi and power outlets while enjoying comfortable seating.

Northampton Survival Center

The Northampton Survival Center provides free groceries to those in the Northampton and Hilltown areas who are financially eligible. They provide an outdoor drive/walk through pick up on Wednesdays, as well as the option to schedule a personalized pick up or delivery time.

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Nutrition Program

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts holds free workshops that are open to the public, focusing on nutrition and healthy eating. They believe that in addition to access to food, the quality of that food is also crucial. These workshops focus on different themes ranging from kids and seniors nutrition, to cooking on a budget, to healthy eating for diabetics. Check their website at for upcoming programs.

Brown Bag: Food for Elders

Provided by The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, this is a once a month distribution of healthy groceries to eligible seniors in the community. These groceries are specifically geared towards seniors, and are available at numerous senior and community centers, including the Northampton Senior Center. In order to qualify for a bag, one must be over the age of 55, or be receiving a Social Security Disability Income for a documented disability. One must also meet the monthly income requirement.

Second Helpings

Second Helpings provides a dinner, free of charge, on Monday nights from 4:30-5:30 at The Episcopal Church of St. James and Andrew. A hot meal, drinks, and dessert are given out, as well as a community to share it with. Volunteers prepare and serve the food, the main meal coming from Deerfield Academy.

Cathedral in the Night

Following worship, one of spiritual exploration and community building, a free meal is provided to all those in attendance. Both the worship and meal are held outdoors on the church steps, and occur rain or shine. The food is provided and served by congregations, groups, and restaurants. This occurs on Sunday evenings at 4:30 and all are welcome to attend.
