AQUATICS (Changes taking effect October 18)

Click here for new lap swim registration timelines

  • There is a maximum of 3 large pool reservations per week per member.  Our team is reviewing the weekly registrations and will cancel any slots over the maximum, and will notify the member through the Motionvibe app.
  • All reservation blocks are 45 minutes in length.  Please exit the pool promptly when your reservation slot has finished.  Please note locker room restrictions have changed. You may enter the locker room 5 minutes prior to the start of your swim.  Please wait for your time slot to begin before entering the pool deck.
  • There is no longer a time restriction for locker room use at the end of the workout, but we do ask that members keep their time to a minimum since there are capacity restrictions for these spaces.
  • Locker Room Expectations: Maintain 6 feet of social distance. Face Covering is required at all times except while in the shower. Members should clean their lockers before and after use with the disinfectant wipes.
  •  Please do not ask the lifeguards if you may enter the water before your time slots begins or stay after your swim has ended.  We understand you may want to swim longer than 45 minutes, but in an effort to accommodate as many members as possible we need to limit time in this space for the time being.
  • In an effort to remain socially distant, reservation slots will be assigned a locker room.  The first swim of the day will start in the upstairs locker room and each swim after will alternate between the downstairs and upstairs locker rooms.  We will make accommodations for anyone unable to use the upstairs locker room.
  • Please note after 3:00p M-F and SAT morning 9:00a-12p the pool may be shared with swim lessons or swim team.  During these times only the upstairs locker rooms are available.
  • Household members (adult couples, senior couples, one adult households, and 2 adult households) may share a lane together. Max two people per lane.  Only one person in the household will need to reserve a slot.  Shared lanes must be approved at the welcome center desk and both swimmers will need bracelets.

  • New Childwatch hours for ages 6 weeks to 3 years old! This is offered in the A Place (formerly known as the Amaze Place)
  • Hours available: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 9:00 – 10:15am & 10:30-11:45am

  • Face coverings are required throughout the locker room, with the exception of the shower.
  • Members are responsible for cleaning their locker before and after use with the disinfecting wipes provided.
  • Physical distancing of six feet should be maintained, and the lockers have been marked off to help with distancing.
  • Some of our Lower Locker room showers have been shut off to help with social distancing.
  • Saunas and Steam Rooms remained closed at this time.
  • Our locker rooms can only reach 50% capacity based on the state guidelines, so members are asked to be efficient with their time.

Hampshire Regional YMCA Reopening Stages

The Hampshire Regional YMCA’s priority is to provide a wellness facility, programs and services in a safe and effective manner. The HRYMCA’s reopening plan prioritizes the health and well-being of our members, staff and the communities we serve, following CDC guidelines and the guidelines and recommendations of state and local government authorities.

The HRYMCA’s staged reopening plan actualizes the following assumptions for operations as they relate to the global coronavirus pandemic and its local implications on public health: Stages are not time-based and entering into subsequent stages will rely on guidance from the CDC, state and local authorities, as well as the HRYMCA’s confidence in enforcing compliance with all COVID-19 preventative measures; stages may be modified and revised as guidance changes. Meeting health and community needs will be balanced and focused on preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Throughout each stage we will closely monitor state and local COVID-19 guidelines and illness rates. We will make adjustments accordingly, closing areas and programs as advised.  We will continue to use email, our website and social media channels to inform our community of any changes.  We will utilize an HRYMCA online reservation system and app as well.

We will reopen in stages beginning on July 13.

 Stage 1:

    1. Stage 1 begins when our facility opens.  The next stage will begin no less than 2 weeks after. The next stage will be dependent on any state-mandated updates, staffing capacity and our confidence in our ability to open the next area. Next stage readiness means we are able staff and to manage the cleaning needs, traffic flow, reservation system and customer service needs.
    2. Stage 1 includes Membership, Wellness, (i.e. Cardio equipment, circuit room, weight room) Group Exercise (indoor, outdoor, and virtual), Personal Training (indoor and outdoor options) both pools and the upstairs locker rooms for aquatics reservations only.
    3.  During Stage 1, only members age 16 and older are allowed to access the facility.
    4.  Downstairs universal locker rooms may be used for individuals that are unable to physically access the upstairs locker room. They will notify the member services team and we will accommodate them. Individuals that feel more comfortable utilizing the universal locker room may do so.
    5. Locker rooms may not be used by members who are not using the pool.
    6. The outdoor playground is not available during the hours that summer camp is in session (9:00am-5:00pm).  It will open after camp and may be used until dusk.
    7. The outdoor basketball court will not be open in Stage 1 due to summer camp and outdoor group fitness classes using that space.
    8.  The gymnasium, racquetball court, and cycle room will not be open in Stage 1.
    9. Towel service is no longer available.

Stage 2:

    1. Stage 2A will begin on Monday, July 27.  Guidelines for facility usage will remain the same as Stage 1, with the following updates:
    2. Members are 13 and older may use the facility.  All members under the age of 18 need a guardian’s signature on their member waiver.
    3. In our Wellness areas: Members will be able to utilize more than one Wellness room (cardio room 1, cardio room 2, weight room, circuit room) during their reserved time as long as the space is not at capacity.
    4. We will offer water aerobics classes in both our large and small pools.
    5. Family swim time will be available in our small pool.
    6. Childwatch will begin during Stage 2B, beginning on Monday, August 3.  See the Childwatch section below for more information.
    7. Private and semi-private swim lessons will also begin on Monday, August 3.  Click here for the swim lesson registration form.
    8. Throughout each stage we will closely monitor state and local COVID-19 guidelines and illness rates. We will make adjustments accordingly, closing areas and programs as advised.

Stage 3A: (beginning September 27)

Aquatics

  1. Registration will open at 8:30am on Sundays for the week ahead beginning on September 27.
  2. Members are only allotted 3 reservations per week for the large pool ( you may register for the small pool in addition to your 3 swims in the large pool).
  3. We will be relying heavily on the honor system.   Please remember YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honestly, Respect, and Responsibility. While the system may allow you to reserve more than 3, this will be monitored.  If you are taking more than 3 reservations per week you will forfeit all reservations for the following week.
  4. We will continue to evaluate this system to accommodate as many swimmers as safely as possible.

HRYMCA Reservation System

  • Members will use a new online reservation system to schedule their time slot in the YMCA. The allotted time per member is an hour and 15 minutes (the last time slot of the day during the week is only one hour).  During Stage 2, members will continue to sign up for the area where they want to begin their workout, but can move to another room as long as that space is not at capacity.  When a member is ready to move to another room, they must notify a Guest Services staff person so they can be tracked in the reservation system.  If you need assistance with the reservation system please call the Welcome Center for assistance. You will need your member ID to create your account, which can be found on your Membership card.
  • Members must have a reservation to be in the building. If a member arrives at the facility and has not made a reservation the staff will review the number of slots available. If a slot is available the staff will train the member on how to use the system and allow them to use the facility at that time. If they arrive past the beginning of the hour and 15 minute time slot they still have to leave when that time slot is over.  We will continue to assess the needs for reservations throughout our stages and adjust to ensure ease of access as needed.
  • Beginning in Stage 2B on Monday, August 3, members can reserve time slots for their children to be in childwatch up to 48 hours in advance.  See the childwatch section for time slots.

All members will be required to wear face coverings while in our building.  Members are not required to wear face coverings while in the physical pool,  during outdoor group exercise classes (when physical distancing is happening), and/or during indoor group exercise classes with members distanced 14 ft. apart (markings on the floor will indicate each member’s zone).  Face coverings are required in all other areas.  Face coverings will be supplied by members, but our Y will have extra on hand.  If a member is unable to wear a face covering for any reason, they may not utilize the YMCA.

Instructors will meet you at the welcome center desk and escort you and your swimmer to the universal changing rooms and then to the pool.  Instructors will be wearing a mask at all times.  For more information please contact the Assistant Aquatics Director Stephanie Matrow or the Aquatics Coordinator Kevin Walker via email.  Stephanie.Matrow@hrymca.org or Dolphins.swimteam@hrymca.org
