Hampshire Regional YMCA

Winter Weather Policy

The safety of our members and staff is the most important factor in determining weather-related closings. If conditions warrant, the CEO may decide to close the YMCA early, delay opening, cancel programs and classes, or close the facility entirely on severe weather days.

CLOSING POLICIES RELATED TO NORTHAMPTON SCHOOL DISTRICT:

1. Northampton School District Delayed openings

All programs and group exercise classes scheduled will run. Child Watch will be open. In the event of severe weather the YMCA leadership will make additional decisions regarding programs, classes and child watch. These updates can be found on our website, Facebook page and our phone cancellation line.

2. Northampton School District Closings

If Northampton schools are closed, all programs, classes, and child watch will be cancelled until 1pm. The YMCA leadership will make additional decisions regarding afternoon and evening classes/programming by 1pm.

3. Weekend Policy

Weekend decisions are made the morning of or evening before and communicated through voice mail, website, social media, TV.

Please check our website (www.hrymca.org) and social media platforms for updated status reports on delays, closings and cancelations due to weather or emergency conditions. In the event the YMCA is closed on a severe weather day, local television postings will also be made.

School Age Child Care Program Closings:

If Northampton schools or schools in the district in which the program is held are cancelled the SACC program in that district is cancelled. If Northampton schools or schools in the district in which the program is held cancel afternoon activities, SACC will close at 4:30 pm.
