Youth and Government™ is a national program of the Y that involves thousands of teens nationwide in state-organized, model-government programs. Students from every corner of the U.S. have the opportunity to immerse themselves in experiential civic engagement and toquite literally, practice democracy.

Youth and Government at our YMCA

In YMCA Youth and Government, our future leaders learn how to find common ground and utilize our democratic system to make change.  This experience gives youth more power to understand real world ideas and issues.

The HRYMCA Youth and Government group meets throughout the year to discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of their state and to propose legislation. Once a year they attend a three-day conference at the Massachusetts State House, where teens serve as delegates at their state conference and debate bills on the floor of the legislature.
